Spiritual Fitness

But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,… Jude 1:20 KJV

Today’s media has been bombarding us with many ads and information about our health. We have seen many commercials and ads about exercise, diets and nutrition, and sleep habits to name a few. More and more people are trying to get in tune with their physical and mental/emotional well-being. All of this physical fitness and mental health is all well and good.

What about our spirit-man? When does he get to execise? When does he get fed? Working out in many neighborhoods, I’ve seen many people out jogging, walking and even walking their dogs. Do we take our spirit-man with us for a walk? What about a work-out? What is our spiritual endurance? What does it take to build up ourselves on our most holy faith?

This scripture mentions praying in the Holy Ghost. Some people call it “praying in tongues”. Either way we need to embrace the Holy Spirit in our daily walk and exercise the part of us that is even more real than the natural part of our lives. We are spirit-beings, and we can only overcome when we fight the battles in the spirit. If you need to, ask the Holy Spirit to come into your heart and teach you how to be a spiritual being. God, our Father, created us to be more than flesh and blood. Our inheritance and mission is more than temporal, or earthly. There is a heavenly kingdom to be won and we can only get there by building up ourselves on our most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.
