Soldiers Obey Orders

A group of Soldiers in Afghanistan under heavy fire were told to call wives/family & say goodbye. At that time, 24 were already dead.

Soldiers obey orders. Eat, sleep, wake up, move, stop, shoot, hold fire, exercise, deploy, go home, or even call family to say good-bye. The military and their commanding officers rule every part of their lives. Even in their family lives, if they aren’t acting in an honorable way toward their spouses/ family or in their finances they can be disciplined.

We are God’s soldiers. It is our duty to obey every command, in every area of our lives. Today is a good day to consider what God has commanded us to do and whether or not we have obeyed. Just like a good commanding officer is concerned for the well-being of those under his command, God has our best interest at heart. He is interested in what we can do to further His Kingdom, but He also wants our best. He isn’t out to “drain us dry” but to give us Life and Life Abundantly and a Kingdom to enjoy it in.

If our health, family life and finances are suffering, then where have we missed being obedient to God’s commands? He isn’t going to lead us into an ambush without providing protection or a way out.

Lord, Please protect and provide for those people who have decided to give their lives in the military. Give each of them a deeper awareness and relationship with you along with their testimonies of your faithfulness in their lives. I ask these things for their families as well.

God, there have been times that we didn’t take your commands as seriously as we should or as seriously as a military soldier would take the commands of his commanding officer. We should be taking your directives even more seriously and yet we have tended to obey the ones we wanted to obey and brush off those we didn’t like or that were uncomfortable. And it is evident in the fruit of our lives. Please forgive us, cleanse us from all unrighteousness and heal us ~ spirit, soul, body and even in our finances. In case we forgot what you have told us, please tell us again and remind us of our commitment to follow you. Help us give our lives for you, not just in death, but throughout our lives by LIVING for YOU in all areas of our life.

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. 14Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. (John 15:13-14)

  1. I want to post quick hello and want to say appriciate for this good article.

  2. As I was sitting here writing an assignment for my psychology degree on Milgram’s research God led me to your site. So easily we get caught up in the today and what is going on around us that we forget that as you say we are his foot soldiers and we should obey without question.

I pray for your protection as you serve HIm.
